Why?

Why are people so eager to grow up?Why can't they enjoy what they have now? Why are people always wishing to be older , just to have a fling, when you know it would not last long?
People wishing every day
To be older, to have more say
You try to tell them, they don't care
They know you will be there when they mess-up
Why?

I understand what you mean, kids never enjoy being kids and have next to none responbilities.

Heh, I'm always wishing I was six... but when I was six I wished I was seventeen. True I like where I'm at now- but I suppose it's human nature not to be happy with what you have.

I'm excited and afraid of growing up. I suppose I'll just take life as it comes: "I know not what is before me, but I will go to it laughing." or something like that.

Hate to break it to you, Goth Rocker, but I can list a lot of people off the top of my head that have it worse then you, like a bunch of unwanted, unloved girls in China that are being forced into prostitution. Somehow I don't see how you have it worse then most people. You have a family that loves you, clothes, food, a house to live in and an oppertunity to get an education. Remind me again why you think you have it so hard?

Maybe the reason why she wants to grow up is because her parents have her on a tight leash and she does it to prove she can.

I guess so.
